Objectives

InterSECtion is the study association for students from the masters Science Education and Communication and the linked minor programs at the TU Delft.

The study association has three main objectives:

Offer perspective on the field
The study association wants to organize trips to relevant conferences and events, as well as company visits during which the students can work on a case for a company or governmental organization (e.g. a school), get to know employers and get insights in the field of Science Communication and Science Education.

Foster the SEC community

The study association wants to be a community for potential, future and current students by offering them a place to meet, activities to do together and a beacon in the sometimes overwhelming TU Delft community via a virtual meeting place on the InterSECtion website and a physical meeting place in the faculty.

Concretely, the study association wants to build the network by offering ‚”borrels”, informal lunch meetings and a welcome activity for new students in September. Furthermore, the study association wants to strengthen and maintain the contact between the students and the department, by evaluating the education as described below, but also by involving lecturers in the activities of the study association. The community activities of the study association can in the future also be focused on building a community with the work field, by inviting representatives from companies, especially companies sponsoring interSECtion activities, and inviting companies to sponsor intersection activities. Additionally, the study association wants to serve as an alumni association, to keep the former students involved.

Contribute to the education
To contribute to the quality of the SEC education, InterSECtion wants to be a quality monitor from the student perspective. This will happen through formal evaluation sessions twice a year, but interSECtion will also be a gateway for comments of the students during the educational period. The feedback will be summarized and communicated to the lecturers by means of a list of recommendations.

Additional to these three goals (perspective on the field, community and education) interSECtion wants to support the SEC staff with informing and recruiting new students. However, the priority lies with the three abovementioned goals.
